Parker at the Pumpkin Patch

Sunday my mom and I took Parker to his very first pumpkin patch. We found one pretty close to our house, so that was nice not having to travel far. Next year, we will go to the big pumpkin patch that is about an hour away. This pumpkin patch was just perfect for him. It had 2 rows of huge pumpkins (great picture spot), a garden with big sunflowers (another good picture spot), lots of pumpkins to choose from inside the barn, a hayride, corn maize, and some animals. It was a nice day and we had a lot of fun.

Before we went to the pumpkin patch, we stopped at Home Depot. They had a nice set up with the pumpkins and hay bales, so we got Parker out to see what he thought about all the pumpkins. As you can see by the picture, he really didn't know what to think.

I couldn't decide which was cuter - the pig or the cow - so, I had to post both of them. I think Parker as a pig is my favorite.

I think Parker wanted to take this pumpkin home with him (he kept patting it), but he was ok with us leaving it at the farm.

Parker was fascinated by these huge pumpkins. However, after a few minutes he was ready to move on.

Parker found his perfect pumpkin and of course, we got a pumpkin for Jake too.

Parker liked looking at the chickens, until this chicken got really close to the fence and made some noises at Parker.

GO DAWGS and HUSKERS!

Oh, it was a happy day in the Kleeman house on Saturday. Both the Dawgs and the Huskers won. Thank goodness, because last week Brad was not a happy camper after the loss to VA Tech! Parker wore his 2 favorite outfits to support his team.

Parker swinging in his new swing. We got this swing for him because ever since we've taken him to the park, he loves swinging. So, Brad and I thought we would get one and have here at our house, then we wouldn't have to keep going to the park! It is great and Parker loves it! He loves it so much, when it's time to get out - he doesn't want to. He grips the ropes very tight and starts crying a little. However, once we get him out - he's completely fine!

Floods and a Snapping Turtle!

We have been experiencing some unbelievable rains within the past 24 hours. We've had almost 10", but some other parts of the area have had 15" or more. It's one of the most unbelievable things Brad and I, and most other Atlantan's have ever experienced. A lot of schools are closed for the next few days; roads and bridges are closed; even the interstate that heads north to our house was shut down today. They showed a picture of the interstate on the news and it looked like a river was on top of the interstate. The only word I can use to describe the flooding is "Unbelievable!" We got some video because some of these pictures just don't do justice.

This is our new river in our backyard. In the very back of the picture, where the tree line is, that is actually the creek - it spilled over onto our land and there were mini white rapids raging in the back. Cool, but kindof scary at the same time.


This is where the creek started to rise in our neighbors backyard. You can see it's about 2-3 feet from covering the road.

Holy Snapping Turtle!!!

Last week I was sitting in my office at home and looked out the window and saw this huge turtle walking across our neighbors yard, cross the road, and come into our yard. I thought, "Oh, how cool - a big turtle." I watched the turtle walk further into our yard, then I lost site of him. I went to get my camera because I wanted to get a picture of him. When I opened our front door - there he was!! He was walking straight toward our front door! It was only then, that I realized this wasn't just a big turtle - this was a big, snapping turtle!

I walked carefully around him and bent down, zoomed in and got some great pics!

I let Jake out, to see what he would do. I think Jake was definitely more cautious than I was. He stood on the edge of the porch and didn't go much further. Luckily Sam (that's what I named the turtle) didn't feel like snapping at either one of us!

Sam decided he'd had enough and walked on his merry way. I don't really know where he ended up going. Hopefully he went down the side of our house to the creek.

Fun at the park!

The other night we took a family night to a park that is close to our house. We put Parker on the swings again and he loved it. We ended up staying at the park for about an hour and both Parker and Jake were worn out by the end of the night!

Parker loved this purple spaceship-thing. He was patting the top of it, looking around, and giggling so hard. It was really fun! We wanted to sit Jake in the spaceship with Parker, but Jake was too busy sniffing his surroundings and dog-watching - maybe next time.

Brad and I tried the slide. We soon realized we were out of practice on slides and also realized we were a little big for these particular slides. It's kindof a good thing because Parker really wasn't diggin' the slide-thing too much!


However - Jake loved the idea!!!

Jake climbed right up this rock wall and stood at the top of the slide. Once he got to the top, he wouldn't move though. I tried to get him to come down the slide, but he wouldn't. I got him to come down the rock wall a little, then I had to pick him up and set him back down on the ground. At least he was brave for a few seconds!

Before we left, we let Parker "play" in the mulch-stuff. He really didn't know what to think. He did know he didn't like being on it for too long, because he just wanted to stand up and get it off his knees!

1st Haircut!

Parker got his first haircut today! We went to the girl (her name is Brandy too) who cuts my hair - so, he actually got to go to a "real" salon! It was hilarious and I got lots of great pictures. She got 3 great curls and I have those in a little container. Before we went to get Parker's haircut, we ate at Chick-Fil-A to celebrate.

In the chair - ready for the trim! He had his favorite bee toy with him, so that kept him distracted. He actually did really well - he sat in his bumbo seat, and did great!

Having Fun on My Birthday!

Parker enjoying his birthday gift - his CARS truck. He loves his truck - we push him all over the house. He is getting the hang of moving his feet to make it go.

Parker is 1!!!

Well, we made it - at 12:54pm, Parker officially turned 1 year old!! I can't believe 1 year has already gone by. All my friends told me it would go by really fast and they were right! It has been an awesome year and Brad and I have enjoyed every minute with Parker. He is a sweet boy, who smiles, laughs and giggles a lot. He has a little of both mine and Brad's personality and he has been a great baby! We couldn't imagine our life without Parker and we can't wait to see what the next several years holds for him and our family.

We celebrated with Parker by going to a park close to our house. We put him in the swings and he loved it! He just smiled and giggled the whole time. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad Parker enjoyed the swings.

We took Parker for a ride in his new wagon. This wagon has a fold-up back to lean on and cup holders!! It's also deep, so Parker sits in this wagon, like he's sitting in a chair. When I was little, my red wagon was metal and short, so if I tipped - I fell out and definitely no cup holders!

Parker riding another birthday present - his CARS truck. He really likes it. It sings, lights up, and has all kinds of fun sounds.

This was the day after his birthday party. We went to church, then after church, we went to eat at Cracker Barrel. Parker was doing fine - he was eating the rest of his breakfast, a fried apple, and some hashbrowns. After he took his last bite, we all noticed his eyes were getting heavy, then he started bobbing his head a little. We were getting ready to go, then we look over and we notice that he had literally fallen asleep in the highchair! OMG - it was so funny! Luckily I had my camera, so we snapped a few pictures. Evidently, the party on Saturday wore him out!

He was so tired that even when we picked him up from the highchair and carried him all the way through Cracker Barrel and to the car - he never opened his eyes!
