Parker laughing at Jake

This video is absolutely awesome! We were going for a walk and Jake started playing with his leash - he likes playing tug-of-war with it. He started doing this and Parker started laughing like crazy! It was so funny and I think this video is priceless! Parker has really started to notice Jake more - laughing at him and touching him. Jake is being a great sport and lets Parker "bug" him. I see them being great buddies when Parker is a little older.

Jake has been loving the weather lately. It's great weather for him because it's not too hot. It's been raining on and off, so between showers, we all try to go outside and play. On this particular day, we went for a walk in our neighborhood and then went in our backyard. Jake went straight to the pine straw bed and laid down and "posed" for his picture!

Jake found a worm in the grass. He likes to smell them, then roll on them. He also likes to do this on the driveway, in the road - really wherever he finds a worm. Weird, but funny!

1st SEC baseball game

Today we took Parker to his 1st SEC baseball game. We went to Hoover, AL to see LSU and Vandy play in the SEC championship game. We were hoping to see Georgia play Vandy for the championship, but Georgia lost twice to LSU in their games yesterday. We were going to go to the GA game, but rain postponed the game until late yesterday, so we weren't able to go. The weather turned out really nice for the game as it rained just a little at the beginning of the game. There was forecasted rain in the area for later in the afternoon, but during the game, it was sunny with some clouds and a nice breeze blowing almost the entire game. Of course, we got ballpark food while we were there. Brad had a brat, I had a chicken quesadilla, and Parker had his squash and milk (he's just not quite ready for a ballpark hot dog). We had a great time and we sat right in the middle of the LSU fans and they are awesome!


Parker did great and watched almost the entire game. He took a 30 minute snooze towards the end of the game, but he woke up to see LSU get the last 3 outs of the game.

1st Field Day

Last Friday I took Parker to my elementary school, where I worked last year, to their Field Day. It was a fun day and Parker enjoyed seeing all the teachers and kids and they enjoyed getting to see him as well. It was also great for me to see all my former co-workers - I really enjoyed my time working at my elementary school. It was warm and sunny and a great day for the kids to have their field day. We stayed at school from 9:30-12:30pm and Parker was awake the entire time. This was really good for him because that is the time when he takes his morning nap. I usually don't venture out when he takes his long morning nap, but I took a chance on this particular day and it really worked out. I'm kindof glad I did, because now I know I can get out during his "sleep" time if I need to. Once we got home, around 1:30pm, he crashed and slept for almost 4 hours.

Science Museum

Last week we went to the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville. We all had a great time and Parker really enjoyed all the exhibits. The museum is awesome and is a great resource for students to learn about the Science standards for the state test.

My 1st Mother's Day

What a great 1st Mother's Day I had! I got to spend it with my favorite 2 boys - Parker and Jake. We went to Chattanooga for the day to spend Mother's Day with my mom. We had a nice time visiting with her, and of course, she couldn't get enough of Parker!
In my short time of 8 months being a mother, it's amazing what I have learned:
--when I think I have Parker's schedule figured out, he changes it up
--when I think it's safe to remove his diaper, watch out because his sprinkler always goes off
--mom's spit does remove everything
--Parker gives the sweetest kisses
--how much Parker depends on me for everything
--how much Parker learns in a day

Parker's 1st Baseball Game

Saturday, we took Parker to his 1st baseball game at Kennesaw State. Brad's friend and former coaching partner, Eric, coaches at Kennesaw, so it was good to see him and talk with him between games. We enjoyed being outside with Parker, but it was so hot and humid!
Parker did really good during the game. There wasn't much action going on in the first part of the game, so Parker lost interest and started playing with his toy dog.

Parker fell asleep during the game while I was holding him. Once he fell asleep, he missed all the action. He slept right through 2 homeruns and the fans going crazy. How he slept through all that is beyond me!

After the game, we went to eat at Taco Mac. We brought Parker's Bumbo seat and he sat in it on top of the table - it was pretty funny! He really likes sitting in his Bumbo seat and I really like eating at Taco Mac - it's one of my favorites.
It was a really nice day and a great 1st Mother's Day for me. Brad, Parker and I celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday because we will be going to my mom's on Sunday for Mother's Day.

8 months old!

Parker is now 8 months old and he's really been making good progress. We are still working with him on sitting up without support, but he's getting there. He's also starting to put more weight on his legs and stand with support. It seems like every week, he gets better and better. We did have him checked by a doctor, to make sure everything is ok, because he's on the later end of what all the books say, but the doctor told us he was fine and he's progressing on his own schedule. We were very relieved to hear that!
He's still sleeping good - going to bed by 8pm and waking up at 7am, with 1 long nap and 1 short nap during the day. He's eating really good - just like a boy - he's already starting to eat so much! I feed him his pureed food, then he eats a bowl of baby cereal as well! Wow! If this is any indication of what it will be like when he's a little older, I better start a separate grocery fund for him!
Parker loves being read to. He really does a good job of tracking the words on the pages and even turns the pages himself. He's also starting to recognize more words when we say them. I think that is attributed to his reading DVDs he's been watching since he was 4 months old.

This was an antique cradle that our neighbor's dad had in his house. He said that he and his wife used it for their children, so we put Parker in it. Parker liked it for a little while, then he wanted out. Brad and I thought it was so cool!
